The Man Behind the Church:
Faith Seekers church started with a vision and God's teachings
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Eugene Taylor, pastor of Faith Seekers Church, has overcome many obstacles in his life. As a young boy he was in and out of group homes but he always prevailed by the grace of God. As an adult, he dedicated his heart and time into pursuing a career as a rap artist.
As time went on, he started to experience difficulty writing songs—the lyrics would come to him in fragmented pieces. One day while writing in his car the Lord spoke to his spirit saying, “If you write and sing songs for me I will bless you and your career.”
Learning to follow God's path
Sometimes we hear God but aren’t receptive to his will. Eugene kept writing the lyrics that suited his audience while ignoring the voice of the Lord until he hit a dead end. He realized that to really prosper he could not serve two masters. He decided to immerse himself in God’s will and begin to create Gospel rap. His music became the stepping stone for him to teach and preach the Gospel.
Eugene has followed, served, and worked under several leaders where he learned from their wisdom and expertise. He gives earnest thanks to Pastor Carson and Vivian Wright of Wickland of Greater Harvest Church, Pastor Andy Thompson of World Overcomers Christian Church, Pastor Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church, and Pastor Paul Jenkins of The Gathering Church. With great mentors, unyielding prayer, and fasting, God developed Eugene’s character and spiritual gifts. With those gifts, he could serve God, his family, friends, and the urban community.
When you let go and let God in
Through Eugene’s experience, you can see the power of letting go and letting God take control of our lives. It is through His grace and glory that Faith Seekers Church has been brought to fruition to serve the people of God, as well as the community of Charlotte.
